Storm before the Calm

Storm before the calm, at 2:30 am I woke with the realization that I would be on the road, full-on adventuring, in less than 4.5 month! My heart was racing and I tossed and turned waking up exhausted wondering what the hell am I doing. I knew that I would still be going there was no question, but the walking away and career breaking for a year, was I crazy.

I never doubted that I would be leaving. Mind you half of my house is either packed for storage or listed on Craigslist for sale, so where was all this anxiety coming from.  I am not quite sure where or why but I know that the storm dissipated when I opened my email and had the attached image from Iain Harper of the Ted Simon Foundation. My badge was approved and ready, I was now listed as an
official Jupiter’s Traveller. My grin was ear to ear and warmed my heart and ravaged any anxiety that was left over from my sleepless night. I am taking the steps that are right, and are towards adventure and filled with unique and memorable experiences. I am not sure what I will learn on the road but it will be a “road education” that will change my life, I have no doubt about that.

Christmas in April

It is 93 degrees in Phoenix today, I quickly jump in the shower to cool down and see the note on my door that a delivery awaits me in the apartment office.  I knew what it could be, I had no idea that the 2 things I was expecting would come in such a
large box…so I filmed my Christmas in April with a moto adventurers  version of Santa in Giant Loop- and they had many surprises in store for me!
One of my favorite things in life is when someone goes above and beyond reminding me that surprises can be AWESOME. Thank you Harold and Giant Loop for the giant box filled with adventure gear for my bike, it was like Christmas!

Quickly packing up a few more "To Sell" boxes and then up stairs to put on a dl-couture gown and enjoy the pleasure of "dress-up" that never gets old.

I was honored again this year as a nominee to the Governors Arts Awards (2011 &2014). It was a lovely evening and I am always impressed with the lifetimes that have been dedicated to art and culture.

One of the Individual winners that really stuck out to me was Anni Beach and her work with the art of music and inspiring youth.  She stood out to me on many
levels, and the strongest is that has never become a 501 c 3 and just continues
to fund all her projects herself! I loved this as my humanitarian companies are
just the same and it is few and far between that I meet someone that  will say back to me, “never do it, keep doing it yourself, never do a board.” Cheers Anni to the hard work and dedication you have shared throughout the years. I raise my glass to you.

When to leave for an adventure?

3/20/2014

Simply put when you think of nothing else.

It is time to live your adventure when you start quieting the voices of fear, or as some call “voices of reason.”  The key to a journey is knowing that it is for you and not for everyone else. It is the time in your life that you should be selfish and embrace your dreams with the understanding that it is okay!

For me I am not a big believer in regrets, and I find journeys, adventures, even daily choices are answered by my asking me…will you regret going? Usually what flashing through my mind is I WILL regret NOT going! So ask yourself, “Will I regret not __________?” Fill in the blank with your adventure.

Monotony of Tasks

We get into a routine and the drag of the daily repetition where something as simple as checking your mailbox becomes another task.

Unless that is you are anxiously awaiting the new issue of ADV Moto Magazine! Daily I would get out of work, find parking at my complex and briskly walk to #2021 for a mail check. I would insert the key with excitement, often to reveal a coupon newspaper and a bill. Oh but last night was different, there it sat beautifully wrapped in plastic, the new ADV Moto issue 79!

RIF – Reader In Focus feature and the first printed press on the upcoming adventure for Black tie to Black top. It is a great layout and wonderful to be a part of a magazine that I have devoured for years! Thank you to Nicole and Paul for the support.
This is the start of much more press to come, and the monotony of picking up an article or coverage or TV program…that just never does get old!
